Caitlin Clark throws incredible passes, but her teammates seem unable to catch them.
The Fever and Clark fell to the Chicago Sky 88-87 Sunday after blowing a second half lead. Clark finished the game with 17 points, 13 assists, six rebounds and five turnovers. It’s that last stat that really needs to be unpacked.
Clark averages more than five turnovers a game, and her critics and haters love to bring up how often she turns the ball over.
There’s just one major problem with that narrative:
The videos that exist of her games.

Caitlin Clark’s teammates struggle to catch her passes.
There were two moments against the Sky that were so frustrating that it’s hard to believe they were real. In two different moments of the game, Clark threw gorgeous passes to teammates unable to capitalize.
One pass wasn’t caught after being thrown perfectly on target, and the other resulted in a blown wide open layup.

I watched this as it happened live Sunday while on the phone with my parents, and I had to pause the conversation to just shake my head in shock.
Again, Clark’s critics love talking about her turnovers. How much more perfectly could these passes have been? One wasn’t caught and the other should have been a very easy two points.
Yet, both were blown by her Fever teammates. I’d be beyond frustrated if I were.

The good news is the Fever are showing clear improvement. The team is 4-1 in its last five games, and Clark is coming into her own. It’d just be nice if her teammates could learn to properly handle her passes and capitalize on them.
