Conor McGregor drops new training footage ahead of UFC 303 and it's got fans talking

Conor McGregor has posted footage of himself in training for his UFC 303 fight against Michael Chandler – and it has got fans talking.

The Irishman is set to take part in a UFC fight for the first time in nearly three years when he faces Chandler on June 29 in Paradise, Nevada.

He hasn’t fought inside the Octagon since a doctor’s stoppage defeat to Dustin Poirier in July 2021, which saw ‘Notorious’ suffer a broken leg.

McGregor did feature in his own documentary, titled ‘McGregor Forever’ last year, and also played a leading role in the film ‘Roadhouse’, starring American actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

McGregor and Chandler were due to go face-to-face at a press event in Dublin on Monday, but the event was postponed by the UFC just hours before it was due to start.

Ariel Helwani then sparked concerns that the fight may be in doubt by reporting the UFC have ‘sent out feelers’ for potential replacements if the matchup can’t go ahead.

However, the T-Mobile Arena – which is hosting UFC 303 – is still advertising McGregor vs Chandler as the show’s main event, and there is no other indication that the fight might be in jeopardy.

Now, the Irishman has posted new training footage ahead of the fight – and fans all said the same thing in response.

Take a look below.

One wrote: “Conor’s trolling, he’s fighting I’m convinced.”

A second agreed: “Conor’s fighting, he just wanted to troll a little bit.”

Another said: “For a guy who’s returning from an injury, he’s looking amazing.”

A fourth wrote: “Dude looks fast, accurate and strong. It looks like he’s training to end it early. Very fast pace. We are back!”

While a fifth admitted: “He looks clean and fast.”

Conor McGregor has taken to his social media to post a video of him training and fans are loving it.

A video of Conor McGregor training for his UFC return has emerged online and fans are going crazy for it.

McGregor, 35, is set to make his long awaited return to the octagon on June 29, as he takes on Michael Chandler at UFC 303.

The blockbuster showdown will be held in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

McGregor boasts a record of 22 wins and six defeats – although has only won once since becoming the first fighter to hold two UFC belt’s simultaneously in 2016. Chandler has a record of 23 wins and eight defeats.

The Irish superstar hasn’t fought since breaking his leg three years ago in the trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier – but is looking ‘slick’ according to his long-term trainer Joe Kavanagh.

“He’s looking super slick,” Kavanagh told SevereMMA.
“It’s hard to keep the level of intensity. Even if it’s not physical, the level of mental intensity, of always thinking about training, always thinking about sequences, always thinking about techniques.

“That’s something Conor’s had naturally his whole career. So even though there’s times when he’s off filming, he’s doing this, he’s doing that, we’re still always having conversations back and forth.

“Whereas some fighters are like, ‘If I’m not fighting, I don’t even want to look at shows. I’ll just get ready when there’s a fight coming up.’ That’s really held to him because he’s come back on the mats as sharp as ever. Of course, we’ve got to get the rounds in and get the conditioning up to be ready for competition, but his technique is as sharp as ever.”

Which certainly looks the case after McGregor posted a video of himself sparring on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account.

Fans have since flooded the comments to share their thoughts on the video, with one person saying: “THE MAC IS BACK.” While another added: “Only McGregor can end Makhachev’s reign.”

Others were slightly critical of how he was looking ahead of the fight, after stating: “Footwork needs improvement, left hook looks good though. You’re getting there!”

However, the vast majority of people were just overjoyed to see McGregor back in action. “The KING is back,” another fan said.
