It’s safe to say Phoenix Mercury star Diana Taurasi is a big fan of Los Angeles Sparks rookie Cameron Brink.
Taurasi showed as much in a recent interview when inquired about the moment Brink made her laugh during a game.
For those not in the know, Brink previously shared how she was able to make Taurasi laugh when the Sparks and Mercury played earlier this June–an 87-68 loss for LA. According to Brink, she and Taurasi laughed when she told the vet she felt like she would be cut next year due to her poor performance in the said game.
Taurasi was asked about that moment by Uproxx, and after reflecting on the moment, the 42-year-old guard went on to praise Brink and her incredible attitude. The one-time MVP even went as far as to saying that the former Stanford star has the “it” factor.
“She’s awesome. That kid’s got the best smile ever. She just has this energy about her. She has this “it” factor when you’re around her, and there’s nothing better than when people don’t take themselves seriously, especially when you’re a badass,” Taurasi said.
“There’s nothing better than that. It’s the best quality to have. You cannot take yourself too serious.”
It certainly looks like Brink has made quite the impression on Taurasi for the vet to have such high praises of her.
In the same interview, Diana Taurasi also actually warned the league that scary times are coming once Cameron Brink gets it together in the WNBA.
The Sparks and Mercury meet again later this June, and sure enough, plenty of eyes will be on Brink and Taurasi’s rematch on the floor. Here’s to hoping we catch Brink making Taurasi laugh during their battle.
