Despite not being one of the best statistical rookies this season, the WNBA has fallen in love with Caitlin Clark’s former Iowa teammate, Kate Martin. Her personality is extremely likable, as she’s extremely humble and is very supportive of her fans.

That said, she’s not a bad player by any means and has continued to improve for the Las Vegas Aces. Her matchup with fellow rookie Angel Reese was very highly anticipated, but unfortunately, it went very wrong in the worst way possible. Towards the end of the first quarter, Martin suffered what appeared to be an ankle injury, which  wouldn’t be the worst case scenario. WNBA fans were extremely upset after she went down, to say the least.

The WNBA has already lost Los Angeles Sparks’ rookie Cameron Brink for the rest of the season, and this would be another brutal loss for the league. Even Chicago Sky fans were quick to send their prayers to Martin.

At this point, all that anyone can do is hope for the best. She’s an incredible talent and person, and it would be gut-wrenching if she is done for the season.
