While Caitlin Clark had the best individual NCAA women’s basketball career in history (at least in terms of scoring), the Iowa Hawkeyes icon never secured a national title.

Clark’s Hawkeyes lost two consecutive NCAA championship games: first against Angel Reese and the LSU Tigers in 2023, and then again against Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks squad in 2024.

Considering how much of a competitor Caitlin Clark is, there’s no question both losses were heartbreaking for her.

And a viral video that surfaced on X Wednesday showed the agony Clark endured after losing to LSU in 2023.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) watches from the bench after getting taken out during a substitution in the first quarter against the New York Liberty at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on June 2, 2024.

The video (which was posted by X user @soistaydown) shows Clark breaking down and crying on Iowa teammate Monika Czinano’s shoulder after the 2023 national championship game defeat.

Czinano can be seen kissing Clark on the head and consoling her before Clark turns into her and the two share a tear-jerking embrace.

“the second half of this just made me so sick i’m so serious,” the video’s caption read.

“What love for a teammate looks like,” one X user replied to the video, which has over 100,000 views.

These losses surely shaped Clark into the battle-tested player she is for the Fever.
