Do Glen Powell and David Corenswet have what it takes to be DC’s new hot duo?

Can Glen Powell and David Corenswet be the new dynamic duo in the film industry?

There is no doubt to the fact that Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill were the two halves of one of the best duos in Hollywood. On one hand, there is Ben Affleck who brought the perfect amount of brooding intensity one would want to see in Batman. On the other hand, there is Henry Cavill who literally looked like he had stepped out from a Superman comic book.

However, what if Glen Powell got the chance to challenge the awesomeness of Ben-Henry’s duo? The Top Gun: Maverick actor has always been a huge fan of Batman and one day, would like to play the superhero as well. So, if Glen Powell somehow manages to bag the role in James Gunn’s DCU, all while David Corenswet is the superhero universe’s Superman, perhaps the two could give Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck a run for their money.

Glen Powell has become Hollywood’s favorite man after he played the role of Hangman in Top Gun: Maverick. Since then, he has starred in a handful of projects including Anyone but You and Hit Man. Soon, he will be seen sharing the screen with DCU’s new Superman, David Corenswet, in Twisters.

Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, Twisters follows the story of Daisy Edgar-Jones’ Kate Cooper testing out a new tornado tracking system. Powell plays the role of Tyler Owens, a reckless yet charming social media star who is always on the lookout for adventures. Corenswet will be seen playing Scott, who is a member of a team of tornado wranglers.

Recently, Powell shared a slideshow from behind the scenes of the film on his Instagram, starring the cutest member of Twisters’ cast –Brisket, the actor’s dog whom he adopted last year.

In one of the photos, he can be seen standing with Corenswet and Katy O’Brian who is also a part of Twisters. After seeing the photo, we couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to see Powell as Batman in James Gunn’s DCU while Corenswet played Superman.

Powell has previously expressed his interest in playing the Caped Crusader. In an interview for GQ, the Scream Queens actor was taking a stroll through the Warner Bros. Studio lot and stopped in his tracks when he came to the Batmobile section.

He stated that he has always been “a Batman guy” and that his version of the superhero if he ever got to play him, would resemble Michael Keaton’s take.

I was always a Batman guy. I would have a wild take on Batman. It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone – it’d probably be closer to [Michael] Keaton.

Well, we can definitely envision him playing a variant of Batman. The question is, will Gunn make Powell’s dream come true and will we ever get a Powell-Corenswet duo in DCU?

There is probably no other superhero out there who can match the hype of Batman and Superman. After all, they are the classic, aren’t they? We have seen countless renditions of these superheroes in live-action but Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Zack Snyder did an incredible job bringing the best out of these two actors for his films. And while unfortunately they are no longer linked to the characters, they sure have left an unerasable mark of fans’ lives. Die-hard DCEU fans loved seeing the two forces come together in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

They sure are a duo fans can never forget and if you don’t believe us, you can hear it from the fans themselves:

Thus, even if Powell manages to make his way into the DCU, it will be quite difficult for him and Corenswet to live up to the hype set by their predecessors. However, who knows, they may just be able to put up a fight with Cavill and Affleck.

As for those who cannot envision Powell as Batman, well fans are also pitching him as Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern:

What do you think? Is Powell more fitting as Batman or Green Lantern? As for now, let’s just wait and see what the duo does in Twisters!
