Antonio Brown calls WNBA a ‘CH₳RITY FOR LɆSBI₳NS’ after his past attacks on Caitlin Clark as controversial ex-NFLer claims ‘nobody actually watches it’ – HO

Antonio Brown has branded the WNBA a ‘charity for lesbians’ following his past attacks on Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.

With the addition of Clark to the league, the WNBA has smashed viewership records – though Brown has repeatedly taken aim at the former Iowa standout.

And the ex-NFL receiver turned his attention to the WNBA once again this week following a Washington Post report that the league and its teams were expected to lose $50million this year.

‘This why I’ve found all the WNBA talk to be hilarious,’ he said on X. ‘Nobody actually watches it. So when you’re arguing about it, you’re not really arguing about a professional sport. It’s more of just a charity for lesbians.’

Brown has excessively targeted Clark online, to the point where the hoops star has actually blocked him on X.

In April, Brown claimed that Clark will get plastic surgery when she starts making more money through the WNBA.

He also posted a crass meme referring to Clark’s boyfriend, former Iowa player Connor McCaffery, before following up with a tweet seemingly addressing the outrage that said: ‘Cant be cancelled if you already cancelled.’

After that, he said Clark should play in the NBA instead of the women’s equivalent.

Despite the added eyeballs from Clark and fellow high-profile rookies like Angel Reese and Cameron Brink, the league is evidently still unprofitable in its 28th year.

However, the WNBA is due to renegotiate its TV rights next year, with the league looking to earn far more than the roughly $60million it is reported as currently earning from TV.

Sixty percent of the league, though, is owned by the NBA, which will negotiate any future deal for the both of them.

Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal have reported that the next deal for both leagues will be more than $7billion (the NBA currently receives $2.7billion per year in TV rights).

Attendance is also up for the W, as it announced this week that May’s attendance of over 400,000 fans is the largest in 26 years.

Across ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, and CBS, WNBA games are also averaging 1.32 million viewers – which is nearly triple last season’s average mark of 462,200 viewers.

Of course, much of that is down to Clark, who is averaging 15.6 points per game for the Fever.

Merchandise sales are also up 236 percent over last season, with Clark, Reese, and Brink all ranking in the top five.
