Peyton Manning reveals Caitlin Clark’s one major flaw – and it’s all to do with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce | HO

There aren’t many weaknesses in Caitlin Clark’s game.

The former Iowa Hawkeyes star is the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I history and the new face of the WNBA after being selected No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever.

Sharpshooter Clark has drawn comparisons to Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry for her ability to shoot logo 3s and score from anywhere on the court, but Peyton Manning still thinks she has one major flaw.

The legendary NFL QB enjoys watching Clark play, but says the Fever rookie has one glaring shortcoming – she’s a Kansas City Chiefs fan.

“It’s awesome and, like I said, I really enjoyed getting to know Caitlin even more,” said Manning, who was a star in Indianapolis where Clark now plays her home games.

“Throughout this series, she was a guest on our show, the Monday night show, last year.

“She’s a Chiefs fan. I forgive her for that, but she said she did grow up kind of watching me play and she’s going to love Indianapolis. I gave her all of my contacts at the airport, at St. Elmo’s and it’s a great place for her to play, I’m looking forward to watching her.”

The 22-year-old Clark grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, and is a lifelong Chiefs fan.

In November last year, she told Eli and Peyton Manning that from a young age she would join her family and make a pilgrimage from Des Moines to Kansas City each year to watch a Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium.

Clark has been treated in recent seasons thanks to the genius of Andy Reid and the heroics of Patrick Mahomes.

Kansas City, who also boasts Hall of Fame-worthy tight end Travis Kelce, is the pre-eminent force in the NFL right now, having won three Super Bowl titles in the last five years.

Like Taylor Swift, Clark was at Arrowhead last season to cheer the Chiefs on and was in attendance for the Christmas Day loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

She posted tributes to KC when they hoisted the Lombardi Trophy in February’s Big Game and the team repaid the favor when Clark’s Iowa squad faced UConn in the Final Four of this year’s NCAA Tournament.

The reigning world champs posted a childhood photo of Clark wearing Chiefs gear to social media and expressed their support.

“You cheered for us. Now it’s our turn,” the team captioned. “All of Chiefs Kingdom is rooting for you tonight.”

Clark joining the WNBA is a potentially sport-defining move that is already being felt far and wide.

Less than an hour after being drafted, Clark’s Fever jersey sold out in every size barring small, while Fever tickets sales have gone through the roof for next season with 36 of their 40 games being shown on national television.

Clark made her WNBA debut last week when Indiana played in their first preseason game against the Dallas Wings.

Clark finished with 21 points on 6-of-15 shooting and went 5-of-13 from 3-point range.

She will make her eagerly-awaited regular-season debut on 14 May against the Connecticut Sun.
