Indiana, 7-11, just had its recent four-game winning streak snapped by Chicago. The Fever will make a pit stop in Seattle on Thursday, before taking the trip to Phoenix.

One of the more interesting parts about the evolution of women’s basketball and overall professional sports is the overlap between eras. Seeing pioneers of the game who are on their way out going up against the future pillars of the sport is always intriguing, and its moments like these that fans should not take for granted.

Indiana at Phoenix will surely be a clash between two eras that we may never see again after this season. Caitlin Clark, 22, will lead her Fever into battle against Diana Taurasi and her Mercury. Taurasi, 42, is one of the trail-blazers of women’s basketball, and she’s made her thoughts clear on Clark in the past.

“It’s an uncomfortable league. It’s physical, it’s a grind. You never feel comfortable. You [get] used to the things around you,” Taurasi said. “At the same time, she’s in an interesting position where she’s played on the ball her whole career. Sometimes you have to play off the ball, sometimes that’s the solution.”

Taurasi has gone on record saying that it’ll take time for Clark to fully adjust to the WNBA, and despite a great start to her rookie season, Taurasi is right. Fans needed to tame their expectations on Clark just a little bit, because the WNBA is just has a different level of pace and physicality as compared to college.

When asked about whether she looks forward to Clark coming to Phoenix, she kept it simple.

“Yeah, it’ll be fun,” Taurasi said.

Phoenix versus Indiana will tip-off on Sunday at 12 p.m. Pacific Time.
