Caitlin Clark made WNBA history on Wednesday evening, dishing out a league-record 19 assists in the Indiana Fever’s loss to the Dallas Wings. It’s the most assists in a single game by one player in WNBA history.
Clark has more 20-plus point games than every other rookie in the WNBA combined (and yes, that includes Shaquille O’Neal’s Rookie of the Year favorite, Angel Reese).
At this point in the season, roughly two months or so into the 2024 WNBA regular season, how good is Clark, truly? Is she one of the 10 best players in the WNBA? One of the five best? The best point guard in the league?
All are fair questions to ask – and the answer to all of them might be yes.

Clark’s game is continuing to heat up, weeks before the start of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Of course, Clark won’t be playing for the United States women’s national team.
The U.S. women’s basketball selection committee felt that Clark wasn’t one of the 12 most deserving players in the country. That decision was ridiculed by many at the time and, as the Summer Games get closer and closer, that decision continues to look more and more stupid.
Clark is playing exceptional basketball right now and it sure would be great to see her playing on the world’s biggest stage at the Summer Olympics.
However, thanks to Team USA’s women’s basketball selection committee, we won’t be treated to that later this month.
If this play don't make you fired up then we don't know what will 🧨
