Sheryl Swoopes witnessed Angel Reese lead the Chicago Sky to an 88-87 victory over the Indiana Fever on Sunday.

With the Hall of Famer in attendance, Reese registered her eighth consecutive double-double with a career-high 25 points and 16 rebounds. She helped erase a double-digit deficit by scoring 10 points in the final seven minutes at Wintrust Arena.

After the game, Reese went over and embraced Swoopes. After breaking off their long hug, the rookie went back to hug the three-time MVP again.

Here’s a look at the moment, courtesy of the WNBA:

Right after embracing Swoopes, Reese showed her appreciation for the icon in an on-court interview with ESPN reporter Holly Rowe.

“She’s been there for me through my highs and my lows,” Reese said of Swoopes. “She never doubted me. She knew coming into the league what I was going to be capable of. She said she’s proud of me … I’m just happy I came over there.

“She told me she was coming to the game, so I said, ‘I’ll put on a show for you.'”

Reese certainly succeeded. The 22-year-old fought through contact to complete three and-one plays in the second half. With under a minute remaining, Reese made a contested basket to give the Sky their first lead of the final period.

“I’mma go out and do whatever it takes to win every single night,” Reese told Rowe. “My teammates rely on my energy. So being able to continue the energy — even if we’re down, even if we’re up — that’s what I do.”
