Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin have had significant roles with the Indiana Fever and Las Vegas Aces, respectively, to start their WNBA careers. Both are considered some of the top rookies in the league and high expectations have been made for both of them, especially Clark.

The two stars played together for four years with the Iowa Hawkeyes. They led their team to two straight NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championships but fell short of the title after losing both games.

Clark and Martin share a widely recognized friendship characterized by unwavering support. They stand by each other as they navigate the pressure and demands placed upon them.

In the Aces media availability on Monday afternoon, Martin spoke with FOX5 Las Vegas reporter Paloma Villicana on how she has been supporting Clark through her WNBA journey. She also dropped a blunt take on the unfair expectations that Clark has received.

“Caitlin’s phenomenal and she’s having a great rookie season. I think people are really hard on her, expecting her to be perfect. That’s unrealistic,” Martin commented, “But she’s a phenomenal person, she’s a phenomenal player and I’m going to support her through everything.”

Clark and Martin have only met once in the WNBA when the Aces defeated the Fever by a final score of 99-80. The two will meet again on Tuesday, July 2, at 9:30 PM EST.
