Movie sets are no place for fun. While actors are known for blowing off steam every now and then, there is no denying that they are dangerous environments where a lot can go wrong very easily. This is especially true for action movies, which involve various dangerous elements like cranes, guns, weapons, and so much more. The set of Henry Cavilâs Man of Steel was no different from this.

Since the movie was a big-scale, DC Studio production about Superman, there was a lot that could go wrong during the filming of the movie. It would seem that something horrible almost happened when the movie was in active production.
During an interview, Chris Meloni revealed how he almost seriously shot his stunt double when they were filming the movie.
Man of Steel Required A Lot From Chris Meloni
When playing a character unlike themselves, actors have to put in a lot of effort to make their performance as authentic as possible. This could range from learning a new accent to becoming a master of a new craft. During the filming of Man of Steel, Chris Meloni, who played the role of Colonel Nathan Hardy, had to go down a similar path.

During an interview with Vulture, he revealed how he made his performance as a military officer as authentic as possible. Interestingly enough, he specifically learned how to fly a helicopter in military fashion for the Henry Cavill movie.
I think part of the whole superhero ethos or fantasy is these special powers put you outside the boundaries of the norm, to be able to say, âI want to go to Missouri, right now.â Well, there you go,
You have that within your ability. But all the work and study thatâs needed to become proficient and safe and good at flying, and understanding the system, I feel like thatâs giving me superpowers, because thatâs me using my brain again.

He revealed that it was a way for him to have a superpower in real life without needing to be âspecially giftedâ. He used his mind to get control of the skies, being able to go wherever he wanted now that he knew how to fly.
Chris Meloni Almost Turned Man of Steel Bloody
Learning how to fly a helicopter wasnât all that Chris Meloni trained for, as military officers have a lot more versatility. One part of his training was learning how to control and fight with weapons. These included various types of firearms, especially a gun.

During the interview, he revealed that one of his main priorities while learning to do this was to not accidentally hurt his stunt doubles. Interestingly enough, Meloni revealed that he almost shot someone during the filming of Man of Steel.
I just had to make sure I didnât shoot my stunt guy that was sitting next to me â which I almost did. I pulled out the weapon one time, and it went off. It was loaded with blanks and exploded out, and it put a hole in the seat. They were cheap seats, come on! And I didnât hit him. Heâs a stunt guy, stop crying! Come on!

The actor revealed that he once pulled the gun out, and it ended up shooting. While the misfire did not hurt anybody, it did manage to make a hole in a seat and resulted in Meloniâs stuntman crying a lot. It is safe to say that the experience would have been quite an interesting moment during the filming of the Henry Cavill film.
