Henry Cavill has expressed his favorite role if he has the opportunity to collaborate with Marvel Studios.
Henry Cavill has officially said goodbye to the role of Superman after the DCEU ended at the end of 2023 to open the new DC universe according to James Gunn’s plan in 2025. David Corenswet has been chosen to become the new Superman of this universe and will debut in the blockbuster Superman: Legacy, scheduled to be released on July 11, 2025. Meanwhile, Henry Cavill’s future with DCU is still a big question mark, and there has been a lot of information that the British actor’s next superhero destination will be Marvel instead of DC.
With Marvel Studios developing a multiverse storyline with many characters, including new superheroes and villains, Henry Cavill is one of the most anticipated faces in future MCU projects. There have even been some rumors circulating that he will play Doctor Doom – a supervillain who will most likely appear in the Fantastic Four project and could even develop into the main villain of the Multiverse Saga instead of Kang the Conqueror.

However, Doom is not the name that Henry Cavill is aiming for if he joins the MCU. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2021, the actor revealed the role he wants to play if he has the opportunity to cooperate with Marvel Studios. That is Brian Braddock/Captain Britain. He also does not want to take on a role that has been exploited in the MCU, such as Iron Man or Captain America.
â I wouldnât pick a Marvel character thatâs already been played by someone else, because everyone has done a great job, â said Henry Cavill. â However, Iâve read a lot of buzz about Captain Britain on the internet, and Iâd love to be able to portray a cool, modern version of the character, like theyâve modernized Captain America. It would be a fun project, and Iâve always loved playing a British character .â

In the original, Brian Braddock first appeared through the series Captain Britain #1, published in 1976. Braddock was a nuclear physicist before a life-threatening accident after an attack by the Reaver organization. However, he was saved by Merlyn and Roma, the guardians of the Omniverse, and given the opportunity to become a superhero through two treasures: the Amulet of Right and the Sword of Might. Not considering himself a warrior, Braddock chose the amulet, thereby becoming Captain Britain.
During his superhero career, Captain Britain has faced off against villains such as Slaymaster, Vixen, Mastermind, and teamed up with superheroes such as Captain America, Black Knight, and Nick Fury. He even became a member of the Captain Britain Corps, an organization of Captain Britains from different realities in the vast multiverse. After his sister took over the role of Captain Britain, Braddock continued to operate under the aliases Britanic and Captain Avalon.

Returning to the film version, it can be seen that Captain Britain Corps is a great opportunity for Brian Braddock to join the MCU right in phase 5 or 6. This organization is responsible for protecting the multiverse as well as the portal connecting different dimensions. In addition, bringing Captain Britain to the big screen will also pave the way for Betsy Braddock, Brian Braddock’s sister, to come to the MCU. This is the mutant Psylocke, who can completely play the role of a launching pad for the X-Men in this cinematic universe. In the original, Psylocke was a prominent member of the X-Men in the 90s of the 20th century, and was part of the UK mutant team – Excalibur.
In addition, previously, Captain Britain in the MCU was also “teased” through a detail in the blockbuster Avengers: Endgame. Specifically, during his time travel journey, Captain America accidentally heard Peggy Carter mention the name Braddock in 1970.
