2013 marked Henry Cavill taking on his biggest leap in Hollywood with Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. The iconic movie landed a slew of divided critical reception but to undeniable fan craze and praise for the actor and indeed that new suit. Borrowing its history from the comics, the blue colors of the suit and the red cape symbolized Superman’s characteristic morals of truth, hope, and justice. However, for the modern reboot, a bevy of details went behind the scenes in the suits’ redesign, something that had the lead actor absorb a new persona.

With his love for the character bare and known to almost everyone, the 40-year-old actor once revealed a goosebumps-inducing feeling on trying the suit for the first time.

Henry Cavill believes this one trait in his Superman suit made it different

Michael Wilkinson and James Acheson designed 2013’s Man of Steel suit from the ground up. The mantra behind it sought to make it sleeker, more modern, and iconic than possibly any other Superman suit and seal its legacy. Scraping out the debated red briefs, Henry Cavill found it “radiating this fantastic energy” when he tried it out for the first time. Back in June 2013, speaking to James Kleinmann, the actor believed the reason had to do with “genuine love and “respect for the character”.

Recalling his emotional connection with the suit, the actor still lends a mention or two to its celebrated status. Moreover, the actor also stood sure that the physical energy” he felt at that moment was not his self-projection of Superman. Featuring ingrained chain-mail details to give it an other-worldly feel, the 2013 textured suit made flexibility its topmost priority. Sculpted out of Kevlar-like materials, Henry Cavill’s first look in that suit remains a forever fresh pop culture moment.

Regardless of the details behind the suit’s making and Cavill’s acting and physical prowess, an unceremonious exit from DC still stains his outing.

David Corenswet bulks up to be the next 21st-century Superman

Holding just one solo outing in his nine years as DC’s representation of live-action hope, Henry Cavill faced the axe following James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios take over. Following 2023’s The Flash, the British actor’s take on Superman went flying out of canon. In his exit, David Corenswet landed as the next poster boy for DC with his superhero debut coming calling with 2025’s Superman: Legacy.

Ironically, Corenswet’s bulking up for the role has made his physical stature near-identical to Cavill’s. Moreover, his styling and outlook have also started to mirror his predecessor more and more. Despite the boot, the Justice League actor will kick-start his own slate of new franchises starting off with 2024’s Argylle.

These two stills surfaced just a week after Entertainment Weekly unveiled another cool snippet from the film that captured a moment from the action sequence aboard a train.

Entertainment Weekly also recently interviewed Henry Cavill where he talked about Argylle for the first time. He also talked about the complex fight scenes and his “new way” of executing them.

Argylle featured numerous fight sequences and to execute them with precision, Matthew Vaughn’s film introduced a fresh approach to action. This “new way” allowed Cavill to play his part while affording a break to the other actor. The camera seamlessly moved on, affording them a much-needed rest. Alongside the revelation of this innovative action technique, Entertainment Weekly shared an image featuring Cavill in a green velvet suit.
