It has been a few months of multiple emotions for Henry Cavill fans . It was first confirmed that the actor would return to the DC Universe to reinterpret the iconic Superman , a character he first took on in the 2013 film Man of Steel . Shortly thereafter, it was mentioned that the actor would leave aside the role of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher series – which some took as the logical decision so that he could dedicate time to his work at DC.

However, now James Gunn – DC ‘s new creative president – ​​has confirmed that Henry Cavill would not return to play the character in a film that will be written by him and that will focus on a younger Clark Kent in his early years (which means that they will hire a new actor to play the superhero). However, he stated that he will find a place for Cavill in the DC Universe , implying that the actor will return but take up the mantle of another character.

In a social media message, Cavill – who previously showed excitement about returning as Superman – expressed: “This news has not been the easiest but that’s life.
