According to the words of one of the authors of The Witcher, some screenwriters despise the original material on which the Netflix series starring Henry Cavill is based.

For longtime fans of The Witcher universe , there was great fear surrounding the Netflix television adaptation, however that apprehension slowly dissipated once the first season of the series aired.
Henry Cavill impressed everyone in the role of the monster hunter Geralt of Rivia and, the second season of the series, reconfirmed the love and admiration that he and many other people have towards the original material on which it is based, namely the novels fantasy by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski and CD Projekt Red video games. Yet some of the people who helped bring this story to the screen don’t feel the same.

According to the words of one of the former screenwriters of the series, some in the writers’ room felt contempt for the works on which the series is based, so much so that they even mocked them .

Former screenwriter Beau DeMayo, during an Instagram Q&A, compared his experience in the writers’ room of X-Men 97 , where everyone involved had to be fans of the source material, to that of The Witcher , where Sapkowski’s novels and work were even mocked.

“I was on a show, The Witcher, where some of the writers didn’t like the books and video games. They even made fun of the source material , this is the perfect recipe for disaster, as well as low morale. Fandom is a litmus test, it tests the ego and makes sleepless nights worthwhile. You have to respect the work before you can contribute to its legacy . ”

The adventures of Geralt and company will continue in the third season of The Witcher , which will arrive on our screens next summer.
