Knee from Loughane causes massive gap in opponent’s forehead

Brendan Loughnane emerged victorious in the main event of the 2024 PFL 6 card, held at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The featherweight matchup between Loughnane and Justin Gonzales ended in a dramatic fashion, as the Englishman landed a devastating knee strike that left his opponent with a substantial gash in the middle of his forehead.

The action began with both showcasing their striking prowess, exchanging blows in the center of the octagon. However, it was Loughnane who landed the decisive blow, connecting a powerful knee to Gonzales’ head in the second round. The strike did not appear to immediately affect Gonzales, but the impact was immediately evident as a massive gap opened up on his forehead, spilling blood.

“Loughnane left Justin Gonzales with a huge battle scar after their meet,” the news source reported. “The strike opened up a nasty cut that immediately began pouring blood. The referee had no option but to pause the fight to call in the cageside doctor. After checking the cut, it was clear Gonzales could not safely continue – even though he protested the stoppage.”

With this victory, Loughnane has punched his ticket into the 2024 PFL featherweight playoffs as the No. 1 seed. The Englishman has now won two consecutive fights, bouncing back from a previous upset loss to Jesus Pinedo in 2023. Meanwhile, Gonzales now finds himself on a four-fight losing streak and out of the 2024 PFL featherweight tournament.

Loughnane’s impressive performance has undoubtedly solidified his status as one of the top featherweights in the promotion.

As the 2024 PFL featherweight playoffs approach, all eyes will be on Loughnane as he looks to continue his winning streak and potentially capture the season championship.
