MMA Fans React as Alex Pereira Fails to Beat Conor McGregor Into Becoming a UFC Double Champion Faster
Alex Pereira Fails to Beat Conor McGregor

Alex Pereira and Conor McGregor

Throughout its history, the UFC has had superstars. In its early days, it was Royce Gracie, followed by Chuck Liddell, Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre, Brock Lesnar, Jon Jones, Ronda Rousey, Conor McGregor, and now Alex Pereira.

Nobody has come close to McGregor’s stardom, and maybe nobody ever will. However, one fighter becoming a global star is Alex Pereira. Like the Irishman, ‘Poatan’ has never been in boring fights. Moreover, he is also a two-division champion.

McGregor’s rapid title wins versus Pereira in 337 days

McGregor was the first simultaneous two-division champion in UFC history. He was an active fighter and won most fights via brutal knockouts, similar to what Pereira is doing now. Interestingly, even though he became a two-division champion quickly, the Brazilian was slower than ‘The Notorious’ in achieving the feat.

After becoming the middleweight champion at UFC 281, it took Pereira 364 days to become the light heavyweight champion at UFC 295. On the other hand, McGregor only took 336 days to become the lightweight champion at UFC 205 after becoming the featherweight champion at UFC 205.

An Instagram page recently showed Pereira’s accomplishments in 337 days and McGregor’s in 336 days. In 337 days, Pereira defeated Jan Blachowicz, Jamahal Hill, and Jiri Prochazka (x2). In 336 days, McGregor went 3-1, knocking out Jose Aldo and Eddie Alvarez, but went 1-1 against Nate Diaz.

“There is no comparrison. Love Conor but the fact is Alex defended his title. Conor didnt.” a fan commented, siding with Pereira.
