Paige VanZant issues power slap challenge to Dillon Danis: Any day of the week

Former UFC and BKFC star Paige VanZant expressed her confidence in taking on Dillon Danis in a power slap match after her debut victory in the new ‘sport’.

VanZant, who made her power slap debut at Power Slap 8, scored two knockdowns en route to a one-sided unanimous decision win over Christine Wolmarans. The 30-year-old was thrilled with her performance, stating, “Honestly, it was absolutely incredible. Of course I wanted to knock her out with the first slap, but I’m so happy that it went the way that it did. I knew I could take a punch, I knew I could take a slap. That was really fun.”

VanZant’s victory marks her first combat sports win since 2019, and she indicated that her power slap debut won’t be a one-off. “This is too much fun to walk away from,” she said.

However, VanZant’s triumphant return to the winner’s circle was overshadowed by a war of words with fellow MMA star Dillon Danis. After VanZant proclaimed that “Dillon Danis is not a fighter,” Danis fired back, accusing her of being upset that he didn’t “wife” her and threatening to “ruin” her marriage.

In a fiery response, VanZant unloaded on Danis, recounting a past incident in Las Vegas where he allegedly asked her to engage in a lewd act in front of other UFC fighters. “The only time I remember ever seeing you in Vegas was at the UFC athlete retreat. You walked up to me in a bar and asked me to peg you in front of multiple other UFC fighters, and I laughed in your face. That’s not the definition of a relationship, is it?” she said.

VanZant also defended her husband, Austin Vanderford, who is a one-time Bellator title challenger, stating that he has “three things you absolutely will never have. One, a wife. Two, friends. And three, a real MMA résumé.”

While Danis has remained silent on the matter, Vanderford has issued a challenge, stating that he is open to facing Danis in either MMA or boxing, should the controversial star be interested.

With her power slap debut victory and the ongoing feud with Danis, Paige VanZant has certainly made her mark in the world of combat sports. Her fiery response and willingness to take on Danis in the power slap domain only add to her growing reputation as a fierce and unapologetic competitor.
