On Thursday, June 27, at 7:00 PM EST, A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum, and the reigning champion Las Vegas Aces will go up against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky for the first time this season.

In the lead-up to the upcoming game, Wilson, a two-time WNBA MVP, shared insights about her connection with Reese and fellow WNBA rookie Jessika Carter.

“I reach out, but I also don’t hover. But I definitely let them know that I’m always in their corner. I’m here with them, for them. If they have any questions, don’t be afraid to ask me,” Wilson said. (via Las Vegas Review-Journal)

Wilson continued to mention the nickname she used to have for Reese while mentoring her in college. Wilson used to call Reese “daughter.”

The Aces are 2-0 since the return of star guard Chelsea Gray from injury. The Sky are also on a two-game winning streak after they defeated Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever this past Sunday.

Wilson talked a lot with Reese during Reese’s time with the Maryland Terrapins. She spent two years at Maryland before transferring to the LSU Tigers, where she won a national championship.
