Despite being widely regarded as one of the best players in women’s basketball for years, Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky has still yet to win over the hearts of her biggest critics.

Winning a national championship in college and averaging a double-double in her rookie season should be enough to shut down the haters, but there are still people doubting her.

Internet personality Jason Whitlock recently labeled Angel Reese as “arguably the most overrated athlete in all of sports.” He also added that she is “as unskilled as any player in the WNBA,” which is a knock on all of the phenomenal athletes in the league.

Furthermore, Whitlock began speaking on how she’s “awkward”, and “incredibly unathletic”.

“She is awkward… Her lower body seems to be disconnected from her upper body. She’s incredibly unathletic. She has no skill, no postgame. I’m sure Candace Parker watches her and laughs.” said Whitlock.

Reese dominated the NCAAW for years, and is now adjusting to a new, higher-level league. Even so, she’s still managing to be a monster on the glass. Her biggest knock is her lack of efficiency, but she’ll improve with time. As a rookie, who was just in college a few months ago, she can’t be expected to be perfect right away.

Jason Whitlock: Angel Reese is only famous because she taunted Caitlin Clark

Clark and Reese remain two of the most talked about college athletes in recent times

Jason Whitlock believes that Angel Reese‘s fame is solely due to her taunting of Caitlin Clark.

Whitlock shared this opinion following LSU‘s loss to Iowa in the Women’s NCAA tournament Elite Eight, despite Reese’s impressive performance of 17 points and 20 rebounds, marking her 27th double-double of the season.

Clark dominated the game, scoring 41 points, but Whitlock remains steadfast in his viewpoint.

“We can officially quit putting Angel Reese on Caitlin Clark’s level. Stop it.” Whitlock emphasized.

He then suggested that Clark is an exceptional player, contrasting Reese’s rise to fame, which he attributes to her taunting during last year’s tournament final, where LSU emerged victorious.

Referencing Reese’s use of John Cena‘s “You Can’t See Me” gesture, previously employed by Clark, Whitlock suggests that Reese’s fame has escalated since March Madness, even featuring in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

However, Reese has expressed challenges associated with her newfound fame following the conclusion of LSU‘s season.

Meanwhile, Clark continues to amass records, though she has yet to secure a championship. The Hawkeyes‘ upcoming match against the UConn Huskies in the Final Four presents Clark with a potential opportunity to vie for the title.

Which athlete is worth more?

With the two female athletes standing as prime examples of the value of NIL deals in collegiate sports, it’s worth asking the question as to who is worth more.

Whitlock may credit Reese’s entire rise to Clark, however it can’t be denied that they are both producing some excellent performances on court.

According to estimates, Angel Reese‘s current net worth is around 1.7 million dollars according to USA Today.
