Henry Cavill's Superman with Chris Evans' Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man

Former Superman actor Henry Cavill suits up as Captain Britain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe through new art. After playing the Man of Steel in the DCEU, it remains to be seen whether or not the comic book and superhero genre is something Cavill will revisit in the future. As he is officially finished with DC, many have been wanting to see Cavill make his move over to the MCU movie timeline.

One character who continues to be suggested for Cavill in the MCU is Captain Britain, who has existed in the Marvel canon since 1976. To show what he could look like as Captain Britain, Zippexe shared new artwork of Cavill as the Marvel superhero, with a more modern look.

To this date, Captain Britain has never been explored outside the comics, as he hasn’t appeared in live-action or any of Marvel’s animated projects throughout the decades. In the context of the MCU, there haven’t been any real teases for Captain Britain at this point.

Does Henry Cavill’s Captain Britain Actually Make Sense For The MCU?

When it comes to joining the MCU, Cavill has been open to playing a Marvel character, specifically Captain Britain, which has fueled a lot of the fan casting of him as the UK superhero. From Cavill’s many roles outside of Superman, including The Witcher and Mission: Impossible – Fallout, the 41-year-old star would be a great fit as Captain Britain. Whether or not Captain Britain will ever be making his way into the MCU remains to be seen.

As much as Cavill would be great for Captain Britain, it’s also worth looking into whether or not it actually makes sense for the MCU. The Multiverse Saga has been busy introducing numerous new superheroes into the MCU, while also tackling the concept of alternative realities. With only a handful of slots in the movie and TV schedule, there really isn’t a lot of time right now to bring Captain Britain to the MCU if the goal is to have him be a leading character.

Depending on whether Cavill is still available at the time, Phase 7 would perhaps be the proper time to introduce Captain Britain and finally have the former DCEU actor portray him. Since Avengers: Secret Wars is supposedly being eyed as a soft reboot for the MCU, it might make more sense to have Cavill’s Captain Britain in whatever the franchise will look like after Phase 6. But for now, time will tell if the MCU and Captain Britain will ever be part of Cavill’s acting career.
