The 2024 United States women’s basketball team has finalized its roster as we approach the Summer Olympics in Paris.

Caitlin Clark, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft and the most popular player in the league, was controversially left off of the roster

Some have theorized that Clark’s race – white – and sexuality – straight – could be reasons for why she’s being “targeted” by players across the league.

According to Out Sports, half of the 2024 United States women’s basketball team is LGBTQ:

Team USA named the 12 players on the women’s basketball team for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, and WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark was left off the team. Yet half of the team — at least six players — are LGBTQ and out. That will make the USA women’s basketball team just about the gayest team at the Olympics.

Clark, meanwhile, had a pretty reasonable reaction to being left off of the roster.

“I’m excited for the girls that are on the team,” she said. “I’m excited for them, going to be rooting them on to win gold. I was a kid who grew up watching the Olympics and it’ll be fun watching.”
