Henry Cavill To Brandon Routh, We Rank 5 Actors & Their Version Of Clark Kent, Based On Style
Although, of late, we have primarily seen only Henry Cavill as the actor playing the iconic character of Superman, there actually have been tons of great actors who have taken up the role in the past.

Well, we ranked 5 actors who portrayed the role and became icons in their own right, based on their style as Clark Kent:
5. Christopher Reeve – Superman, 1978
© Warner Bros. PicturesChristopher Reeve’s version of Superman was one of the most iconic ones we have seen. His version of Clark Kent, however, though as appropriate as it may have been back in 1978, does not sit well with the story.
More than a journalist, he looks like a mafia man for someone like John Dillinger or Al Capone.
© Warner Bros. PicturesThat is not to say that he wasn’t stylish. On the contrary, he looked rather suave and immaculately dressed. Just not something that we would imagine a boy from a small town in Kansas who grew up to be a journalist would look like.
4. Dean Cain – Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, 1993-1997
© Warner Bros. PicturesDean Cain’s version of Clark Kent was very urban. We would see him either in his Superman suit, his work suit, or some basic T-shirts and pyjamas. That being said, he did have some really cool grooming moves.
We’re not too sure just how relevant would those grooming moves would be today, but things like the hairstyle, and the tan, were quite the rage back then, although they never really caught up in India.
3. Tyler Hoechlin – Supergirl, 2015-present
© Warner Bros. PicturesIf you’ve seen Supergirl, you would know that Superman/Clark Kent have a somewhat limited presence in the series. After all, the show is focused on Supergirl.
With that being said, we have to say that the guy who’s playing Clark Kent, Tyler Hoechlin, has been doing a really great job with the character.
We also love the fact that his outfits are contemporary, but not too flashy, or sophisticated. They are just exactly what a struggling journalist from mid-west America would wear.
2. Brandon Routh – Superman Returns, 2006
© Warner Bros. PicturesFans are still divided over whether Superman Returns was a good film or not.
Brandon Ruth who plays Superman & Clark Kent in the film, basically had to revive a cinematically dead franchise, which is quite a big responsibility. The film wasn’t received that well, but boy, was Routh good as Superman and as Clark.
© Warner Bros. PicturesStylistically, he was on point as Clark Kent. He showed audiences both sides, of that of a Kansas farm boy, as well as a reporter in a posh city newspaper.
1. Henry Cavill – Man Of Steel, 2013 Onwards
© Warner Bros. PicturesFinally, we have Henry Cavill. Cavill is to Superman, what Christian Bale is to Batman; both of them practically revived a dead cinematic franchise and to a level, that we simply cannot imagine anyone else playing that role, ever again.
© Warner Bros. PicturesZack Snyder and Henry Cavill’s Superman got a number of things on point about the hero, but the way they dealt with Superman’s origin story, was just mesmerising.
© Warner Bros. PicturesCavill, as Clark Kent, perfectly portrayed a well-to-do farm owner, as well as an upcoming reporter. Even though it was released in 2013, several outfits and aesthetic cues look pretty contemporary even today.
