The actor’s Highlander reboot will begin filming next year.
Henry Cavill’s Highlander reboot has received an exciting update, with director Chad Stahelski confirming that filming will begin early next year.
A remake of the 1986 movie of the same name, Highlander is set to star Cavill as Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish warrior who must battle other immortals to obtain a coveted ability.
During a recent interview with Collider, Stahelski confirmed that production on the film is set to kick off in Scotland in January 2025.
“We start shooting in January in Scotland – that’s why I go right after I leave,” he shared. “I go to Scotland on Monday to do the final location scout.”
The original Highlander starred Christopher Lambert as the eponymous warrior and spawned four more movies, a TV series and an animated follow-up.
Last year, Stahelski confirmed that his updated version will include “a lot of the same characters” from the original movie while bringing in “elements of all the TV shows.”
20th Century Studios
Previously discussing his love for the original film and how it will inspire his remake, Stahelski told Digital Spy: “I love the original, I know it’s dated in certain ways, but I love the vibe and the mythology.
“So, my take on it would be to somehow maintain the vibe and mythology and feeling of the first movie, not go off the rails with too much plot, and really develop the world of the immortals.
“I don’t care what the mortals are doing, I want to be invested in the immortal world and hold true to the original as much as I can.”
There is currently no release date for Highlander.
